Transit Plus Introduces Paratransit Riders to New Mobile App

Today, Milwaukee County Transit System’s (MCTS) paratransit service, Transit Plus, announced it’s introducing a new mobile app that will give passengers real-time arrival information for van service. “My Transit Manager” is a free app developed by Transdev to help improve van riders’ experience. Transit Plus riders will be able to receive notifications about their upcoming rides, see scheduled trips, monitor trips in real time, follow along on the map, and provide immediate feedback after a ride. A passenger’s family members or caregivers can also see the same trip status and monitor the trip from pick-up to destination.

Transit Plus provides ADA accessible van service to people who have disabilities that prevent them from using MCTS’s fixed route bus service. Last year, Transit Plus provided 350,779 paratransit van rides to eligible paratransit riders. Now these riders will get the same real time tracking information that bus riders have had for years.

Transit Plus Director Fran Musci said, “With My Transit Manager, we’re bringing the paratransit rider experience closer to that of fixed bus route service. My Transit Manager puts real time van trip information in paratransit riders’ hands for the first time, something our riders have been asking us about for years. We’re pleased to partner with Transdev to provide an app that will make riding the van more convenient.”

Transit Plus rider Lilian Ciske has been using My Transit Manager app for several weeks. She says, “It reduces my stress level because of the notifications. I know when they are going to pick me up and see when they have an approximate drop off time. Knowing that information

eliminates the need for me to reach out with questions about my ride. I love that I can see who my driver is going to be ahead of time, as well as provide direct feedback and rate my driver so they get the recognition they deserve."

The app is available in English and Spanish and is accessible for those who use screen reader technology. Paratransit riders can watch a video on RideMCTS.com to see how the app works. Passengers who would like assistance with the app may call Transit Plus at (414) 343-1700 or visit RideMCTS.com/MyTransitManagerApp for more information.
