Route 14

These options come from rider feedback. Riders asked for Route 14 to extend further west on Wisconsin Avenue. Below are a few options; as the route gets extended, buses will come less often.

Route 19 - Downtown

This option would help address operational concerns from our drivers. They have told us, “Congestion, event detours on MLK between McKinley/Knapp and Kilbourn Avenue can lead to safety and operational concerns as well as confusion for riders.

Route 19 - Oak Creek

This option would address scheduling and operational challenges. We could provide more consistent service on Route 19 plus the potential for additional service in Oak Creek by splitting the route.

Route 20

Ridership on Route 20 south of Layton is very low. MCTS could shorten Route 20 and shift those resources elsewhere. Here is what Route 20 could look like:

Route 24

MCTS is considering making Route 24 a high-frequency route (buses come every 15-minutes during the busiest part of the day).

Route 28

This option would help make this route more efficient. Ridership along the current one-way loop on the northern end has remained low since introducing the routing in 2021.

Route 30

This option comes from driver feedback and would improve driver and rider experience. The route would end in an area with more destinations and better street lighting.

Route 34

This option would free up resources that could be used elsewhere. Ridership south of North Ave has been low since the route was created in 2021. Riders would transfer to Route 80 to access destinations downtown.

Route 51

Ridership to Lake Drive is very low, and Route 51 has the lowest ridership of all high-frequency routes. This option would free up resources that could be used elsewhere.

Route 52

These options come from rider feedback. Riders have told us they want Route 52 to serve more destinations on each end of the route. As the route extends, buses will come less often.

Route 55

Ridership on Lake Drive south of Layton Avenue is very low and removing this section would free up resources that could be used elsewhere.

Route 56 and NEW Route 74

This option comes from rider requests. Riders have told us, “MCTS should connect more routes and neighborhoods to grocery/retail/ employment on S. 43rd St (Miller Park Way)” and asked us to add service back where it existed.

Route 57

MCTS is considering making Route 57 a high-frequency route (buses come every 15-minutes during the busiest part of the day).

Route 58

This option would free up resources that could be used elsewhere. Ridership west of Appleton Ave has been low since the route was created in 2021. Riders could get to destinations on Silver Spring on Route 57.

Route 59

This option comes from rider feedback. Riders have told us, “MCTS needs more east-west connectivity on the southern end of the county.” The farther the route extends, the less often buses will come.

Route 63

MCTS is considering making Route 63 a high-frequency route (buses come every 15-minutes during the busiest part of the day).

NEW Route 65

This option comes from rider feedback. Riders have told us, “MCTS should add service on Lake Drive and provide more connections to other routes.”

NEW Route 74

This new route would be created alongside a Route 56 change. Map of Route 74-A captioned “56-A runs on Greenfield Ave and Beloit Rd to 92nd St. 74-A runs on Miller Park Way/43rd St from National Ave to Morgan Ave. Buses come every 35-40 minutes”.

BlueLine and NEW Route 73

These options come from rider requests and operator feedback. Riders have told us, “MCTS needs more east-west connectivity on the northern end of the county,” and “one-way routing north of Park Place is confusing and requires passengers to wait through layovers when traveling south.”

PurpleLine

Ridership south of Rawson Avenue to IKEA is very low. MCTS could shorten PurpleLine and reapportion those resources elsewhere

RedLine and Route 68

This option comes from rider requests. Riders have told us, “Route 68 should extend further east to UWM”.
