What is Fleet Maintenance?

The MCTS Maintenance Department exists to provide vehicle maintenance, facilities maintenance, and technical support services, to ensure clean, safe and reliable vehicles and shelters, and to meet the varied transportation needs of Milwaukee County. Within the Fleet Maintenance Building are multiple departments working every day to recycle and reuse as much as we can to reduce MCTS’s carbon footprint.

1,300

Tires

We never tire of recycling! MCTS recycles over 1,300 tires each year. That’s 330 buses worth of tires!

508

Bubble Top Shelters

Bubble top shelters are our specialty. MCTS has 508 “bubble top” shelters that we build and repair completely in house. Whenever we can, we recycle usable parts to repair current shelters.

4,800

Pounds of Carbon

Milwaukeeans can reduce their carbon emissions
by 4,800 pounds a year by riding the bus instead
of driving a car.

MCTS Thinks Green

Our Body Shop uses low Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) paints which are sprayed by using a High Volume Low Pressure method to apply more paint on the bus with less paint in the air, reducing the amount of paint used and the amount of harmful emissions the paint process can produce.
