MCTS Rosa Parks Tribute Scholarship Information


High school seniors who live and attend school in Milwaukee County and who plan to attend a trade school, college, or university should complete the scholarship application. Students must also submit a short essay inspired by Parks’ quote, “Each person must live their life as a model for others.”

Entries must be received by January 6, 2025 at 8:00 a.m. in order to be considered. Three winning students will each receive a $1,000 scholarship toward their educational pursuits, with winners announced in February on Parks’ birthday and Transit Equity Day.  

Who Is Eligible:

  • High school seniors who live and attend school in Milwaukee County.
  • Must plan to be enrolled in a trade school, college, or university in 2025. For the scholarship winners, MCTS will send the funds directly to the school.

How to Apply:

  • Students must complete the application, submit an essay and a letter of recommendation from a teacher, guidance counselor or other trusted adult.
  • Submit an essay (250 words minimum, 500 words maximum) inspired by this Rosa Parks’ quote: “Each person must live their life as a model for others.”
    • What does this statement mean to you? Please give examples of how this applies to you. You may give examples of people who are role models or are an inspiration to you. Also include your educational goals and career ambitions.

Again, the deadline to apply is Monday, January 6, 2025, at 8:00 a.m. The winners will be announced on Rosa Parks’ birthday Sunday, February 4, 2025. If you have any questions, please send them to Marketing@mcts.org.
