Effective Monday, September 29, 2014, the Milwaukee County Transit System will be implementing a new policy that will require any person riding on a Freeway Flyer route – even just a short segment of the route- to pay the Freeway Flyer fare.
This will NOT affect most riders and fares are NOT changing. Riders will still pay with a valid pass (i.e. CVP, U-PASS), Weekly/Monthly pass with cash premium, or the cash fare of $3.25 adult/$1.60 reduced.
In the past, MCTS was able to accommodate riders who rode Freeway Flyers for just a short distance by charging them a regular local fare ($2.25 adult cash or $1.1.0 reduced). MCTS will no longer be able to provide this service.
We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your cooperation as we implement this policy. Note: The $0.35 zone fare still applies for passengers who board or alight Route 79 in Waukesha County.
Effective Monday, March 3, 2014, one PM trip on Route 79 will be adjusted to better serve passengers. New trip times are as follows:
PM TRIPS FROM DOWNTOWN:
- On the printed Route 79 schedule with an effective date of December 8, 2013, there is a misprint. The 7:57am time listed under weekdays to Downtown (Eastbound) should read 7:37 am. Please note the online version of that schedule is correct. We apologize for any confusion and we thank you for riding with us.
Effective November 4, 2013, due to the closure of Watertown Plank Park-Ride Lot for construction in conjunction with the Zoo Interchange project, Route 79 will serve a new park-ride lot, just north of Burleigh Street, east of US Hwy 45 and west of 114th Street at the Mayfair Collection. To get to the new lot, take US Hwy 45 north to Exit 43.
Passengers may also use Route 44 (National Flyer) service from the State Fair Park-Ride Lot, located on 76th Street at Kearney. To get there take I-94 east to Exit 306 (84th Street).
